Finding a Computer name

1 - Finding your Computer Name in Windows 
 

Using the Settings App 

1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings. 

2. Beneath the System Page Heading the computer name is listed.   

3. Secondarily Select System from the left-hand menu. 

4. Click About at the bottom of the menu. 

5. Your computer name will be displayed next to Device Name. 

Using the Command Prompt 

1. Press Windows key + S and type Command Prompt. 

2. Open Command Prompt from the search results. 

3. Type hostname and press Enter. 

4. Your computer name will appear on the screen. 

 
Using File Explorer 

1. Press Windows key + E to open File Explorer. 

2. Right-click This PC in the left sidebar and select Properties. 

3. Your computer name will be listed next to Device Name. 

 
Using the Run Command 

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. 

2. Type cmd /k hostname and press Enter. 

3. A Command Prompt window will open, displaying your computer name. 

 
Using System Properties 

1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. 

2. Type sysdm.cpl and press Enter. 

3. In the System Properties window, go to the Computer Name tab. 

4. Your computer name will be displayed under Full computer name. 

Using System Information 

1. Press Windows key and the Windows Home Screen will open. 

2. Type sys(tem Information) and arrow key     to highlight the System Information listing and press Enter. 

3. In the System Information window that opens, refer to the System Name on the 6th line for the Computer Name. 

Your computer name will be displayed next to System name.
